Columbia Lake
Situated just north of Canal Flats, Columbia Lake is the largest warm water lake in the East Kootenays and has been an area of great importance to First Nations for many centuries as it contains parts of the Ktunaxa creation story such as the Hoodoo formation, the spirit trail along the Columbia Lake and the headwaters of the Columbia River. Columbia Lake also have very important habitat values for fish and wildlife and recreational values. The growing popularity of the area has resulted in an increase in foreshore disturbance.
